A standard Battery Monitoring System (BMS) is an essential component for any stationary battery system. It allows for the monitoring of critical parameters such as internal resistance, voltage, current, battery temperature, ambient values, and, providing real-time data to ensure the health and performance of the battery system. With remote monitoring software, BMS can be accessed from anywhere, allowing system owners to stay informed and take corrective action if necessary. In this way, BMS helps to prevent catastrophic failure of the battery system by sending on-time notifications to the system user
Battery monitoring and battery management are two related but distinct concepts that are often mistakenly used interchangeably. Battery monitoring involves the collection and display of data on the performance and health of batteries, including voltage, current, temperature, and other key indicators. On the other hand, battery management goes beyond monitoring and provides active control and optimization of the battery system. The key feature of an advanced BMS is battery voltage balancing. By balancing the voltages of individual batteries within a string, BMS can ensure that each battery is operating within a narrow voltage range, which prolongs battery life and makes them more reliable and cost-effective over the long term.
With a BMS like this, users can enjoy the benefits of advanced battery monitoring and management, including increased efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, and longer battery life. BMS can significantly extend the life of stationary battery systems, making them a more reliable and cost-effective investment for businesses. So, whether you're in the data center, telecommunication, renewable energy, or any other industry that relies on stationary battery systems, a BMS with voltage balancing is a smart investment for your business.
Alpais is proud to announce the addition of a new feature to our advanced Battery Management System (BMS): battery voltage balancing. This feature is designed to improve battery performance and extend battery life by actively monitoring and controlling the voltages of individual batteries within a string.
Our method is passive balancing. In this way with no extra hardware changes on the mainboard and therefore not many changes on costs, we offer a reliable solution with a reasonable cost. And, our voltage balancing feature functions with a brilliant accuracy of ±0.05V. This means that the voltages of each battery within a string are kept within a tight range, preventing overcharging or undercharging that can lead to reduced battery life.
To illustrate the effectiveness of our voltage balancing feature, here is a graphic that shows the before and after effects of balancing a string of batteries.
As you can see, the voltages of the individual batteries within the string were uneven before balancing, with some batteries being overcharged and others being undercharged. After balancing, the voltages of each battery are brought into a tight range, ensuring that the battery system is operating at peak performance. And, with that we offer now a more excellent product that can significantly extend the life of stationary battery systems, reduce maintenance costs, and improve overall system reliability.
Regulation of charging; helps prevent overcharging and undercharging, both of which can lead to reduced battery life.
Individual voltage regulation; helps prevent sulfation and stratification, two common issues that can impact battery performance and lifespan.
Maximizes battery capacity; ensuring that each battery is functioning optimally and fully charged. This leads to increased efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, and longer battery life
